The fastest way to duplicate a page in WordPress is with a plugin such as Duplicate Page or Yoast Duplicate Post, which adds a one click “Duplicate” link under every page in your dashboard. If you would rather not install another plugin, you can also copy a page manually using the block editor’s “Copy all content” option, or use your page builder’s built-in duplicate function if you use Elementor, Divi or similar. Each method takes under a minute once you know where to look.
Why you would want to duplicate a page in the first place
You might assume duplicating a page is a niche task, but it comes up more often than you would think. Agencies running paid campaigns duplicate landing pages constantly to test different headlines or offers against each other, which is standard practice for any decent PPC marketing agency. If you are building out several service pages with a similar layout, duplicating a working template saves you rebuilding the structure from scratch every time. And if you are testing a redesign, duplicating the live page lets you experiment without touching what is already ranking.
We see this most with clients running Google Ads campaigns who want a handful of near identical landing pages, each tailored to a specific keyword group or ad set. Rather than designing each one from nothing, our team typically duplicates a strong performer and adjusts the messaging. It is quicker and it keeps the layout consistent, which matters for conversion rate.
Method 1: Using a plugin
This is the option most site owners reach for. Install Duplicate Page (or Yoast Duplicate Post if you already use Yoast for on page work) from the WordPress plugin directory, activate it, and you will see a new “Duplicate” or “Clone” link appear beneath every page and post in your admin list. Click it and WordPress creates an exact copy, saved as a draft, ready for you to edit.
Method 2: Copying manually with the block editor
Open the page you want to copy, click the three dot menu in the top right corner, and select “Copy all content.” Then create a new page and paste. This works well for a one off copy but becomes tedious if you are duplicating pages regularly, which is where a plugin earns its keep.
Method 3: Page builder duplicate functions
If you build pages with Elementor, Divi or Beaver Builder, duplication is usually built in already. In Elementor, for instance, you right click the page in your Pages list and select Duplicate. No plugin required.
| Method | Best for | Technical skill needed |
| Duplicate Page plugin | Regular duplication, non technical users | Low |
| Manual copy and paste | One off copies | Low |
| Page builder duplicate | Elementor, Divi or similar users | Low |
What to watch out for
Duplicating a page creates a draft by default, which is good practice, but it is worth double checking before you publish. Two live pages with near identical content can confuse search engines about which one to rank, an issue covered in more depth in our technical SEO tips guide. If you do end up publishing both versions, set a canonical tag pointing to whichever page you want treated as the main one, something we also touch on in our piece on core SEO strategy. You can check how Google has indexed both pages using Search Console, which will flag duplicate content issues if they appear.
It is also worth renaming the duplicated page’s slug and title straight away. WordPress will often save it as “page-copy” by default, and it is easy to forget to change this before publishing, which looks unprofessional and can hurt readability, something our guide to optimising your web content covers in more detail. Anyone running a Google Ads agency in London will tell you a mislabelled draft slipping onto a live campaign is an easy, avoidable mistake.
If you are managing WordPress alongside a broader campaign, from SEO services to social media advertising, keeping your page structure tidy matters more than it might seem. It is a small habit that saves confusion later, particularly if more than one person edits the site.
